Being a part of the Miami Sooners - The OU Club of South Florida has been an experience I will cherish forever. Serving as the Activities Chairperson has been an honor and a pleasure. Meeting other Sooner alumni, fans and friends in the state of Florida was an unexpected thrill, together we achieved goals that we could not have accomplished alone. South Florida's Club focuses mainly on OU alumni, sports and charitable contributions. Scholarships have been provided to local students beginning their education at the University of Oklahoma. Although I am leaving Florida I will never leave the Miami Sooners, they will hold a special place in my memories of my time here. As a result of the positive aspects and lifelong friendships built during this time, I plan to become equally active in the Alumni program in Louisiana when I arrive there. To all my South Florida Sooners...thanks for the all the good times...BOOMER SOONER!

Cristina Sabando Scholarship Fund
The Sabando Scholarship honors a Sabando family member that passed away due to a car accident. This family is truly Sooners at heart and dear friends to the OU Club of South Florida. This scholarship was awarded to Brooke Estevez who overcame many obstacles to graduate from Cum Laude with a BS in Zoology Biomedical Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. Brooke will be attending medical school to be a D.O. and maybe a D.O./PhD with the intention of graduating with honors and to be known as one of the best physicians out there. Brooke received financial help from this scholarship so that she could have the great opportunity to study abroad in China. We are very happy that the OU Club of South Florida/the Miami Sooners and the beautiful people from Miami in some way made her dreams come true, we are sure that her experience was worthwhile and she will be a better physician due to that experience.
